Hiking in the Kitzbüheler Alps

Discover the joys of hiking on the many diverse routes in the Brixental valley. The unique grass summits of the Kitzbüheler Alps with fields, forests and high pastures of all levels of difficulty.

From leisurely and family walks on easy trails or themed walks to challenging mountain tours, guests here in Brixental have plenty to choose from.

For example a tour through the Spertental valley up to the small and large 'Rettenstein' or from Aschau up to the Brechhorn to enjoy the unique summit experience.

The bike eldorado of the Alps

In Brixental you'll find hundreds of kilometres of bike trails for all levels - from the easy family route in the valley on asphalted paths to strenuous steep single trails.

Take your bike on the Kitzbühel-Kirchberg cable car up to the higher altitudes to start your dream tour. And all with the magnificent backdrop of the Wilder Kaiser, Hahnenkamm, Großem Rettenstein and Kitzbüheler Horn mountains.

Swimming in Kirchberg

Crystal blue pools, idyllic bathing lakes, glass clear alpine lakes and mountain streams. Opportunities to cool down on hot summer days are everywhere you look in this region.

The Kirchberger swimming lake with recreation facilities is a five minute walk from the village centre. Embedded in an attractive landscape, surrounded by forest and fields, the large bathing area with big shady trees is pure relaxation.

Skiing fun in Kirchberg

Right outside your door is the Kitzbühel-Kirchberg skiing area with 57 modern cable cars and lifts and 234 kilometres of ski slopes. Pengelstein and Fleckalm are 2 km away, 500 m to the Gaisberg lift. From there you can ski to our guesthouse.

A stone's throw from Kirchberg is Austria's largest connecting ski area - the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser. Here there are pistes as far as the eye can see: 279 km of piste, 91 modern lifts and cable cars as well as 84 traditional mountain huts and aprés ski pubs await you. With the Kitzbüheler Alps skipass you can access both skiing areas plus 3 further areas in the Kitzbüheler Alps region.

Thanks to the favourable north west location and extensive alpine pasture landscape, skiing is possible with excellent snow cover from December to the middle of April. Here sports lovers can enjoy the many facets of winter: around 32 kilometres of marked ski routes, hip snowboard funparks, natural toboggan runs and hundreds of kilometres of cross-country and winter walking tracks.

Well trained ski and snowboard instructors are here to help you with any inquiries – and achieve the perfect carving turn in the snow. And of course you are well provided for when you need to stop for a break on the mountain or at après-ski time.

The Kitzbühel-Kirchberg ski area was awarded "Best skiing resort 2012 / 2013". The only resort to receive 4,8 from a possible 5 stars!

A ski tour is not only a physical challenge but also an unforgettable experience, away from the hustle and bustle, in and with nature!

Tobogganing in the Kitzbüheler Alps

Our region is truly a tobogganing paradise, for both locals and holiday makers. After a social walk up, the trip down is totally exhilarating.

The natural toboggan run at Gaisberg is especially popular. Don't fancy the walk up? Take the chair lift to the start of the run. From there the tobogganing party can begin.

And if you haven't had enough tobogganing during the day, can continue on the flood lit run at night. Take a break in one of the mountain huts along the way. Toboggan hire is at the bottom lift station.

Operating times:
Day: daily from 9 am to 4 pm.
Evening: Tues - Sat from 6.30 - 9.30 pm

Cross-country skiing through untouched nature

The beautiful natural landscape of the Brixen valley, with its idyllic side valleys, can be enjoyed in many different ways. Excellently prepared cross-country track network connects with neighbouring villages of the Kitzbüheler Alps.

An approx. 4,5 km track at Hochbrixen up at 1.300 m above sea level as well as the network in Aschau offer cross-country pleasure til the beginning of spring.
